LATEST POLL: LIST OF 18 COUNTIES WHERE RAILA HAS DISMANTLED RUTO

The hopes for deputy president William Ruto to ascend to the top seat is quickly diminishing if the latest opinion poll is anything to go by.

A poll conducted by Ipsos Synovate shows Ruto trailing with 6% behind his main competitor Raila Odinga.  Specifically, the azimio presidential flag bearer leads with 47% against Kenya Kwanza’s candidate with only 41%.

At the same time, the poll firm revealed that Raila has a clear win in 18 counties while the UDA party leader has a clear win in 17 counties, with 11 counties being declared as battlegrounds that may go either side.

“Raila Odinga has 18 counties where voter preference is above 55% compared to William Ruto has 17 counties where voter preference is at 55% however, there are 11 counties that are the battleground and will determine who will win the election,” IPSOS said.

According to the Research company, the survey was conducted between 23rd and 26th July following the presidential debate that the ODM leader skipped. On his side, George Wajackoyah ranked third at 2.9% while Waihiga Mwaura scored 0.2%.

With regards to the number of undecided voters, the director of research at Ipsos Mr. Samuel Muthoka revealed that they were at 4% and Raila could win in the first round if he manages to convince half of the undecided voters.

“From this research, if Mr Odinga converts half of the undecided voters he will have a first round win while if Mr Ruto will convert half of the undecided voters, he will force a re-run of the election,” He said.
