BILLIONAIRES WHO ARE CONTROLLING KENYAN POLITICS

Kenyan politics are diverse and the more time goes by, the more changing the type of politics are being adopted by the different leaders in the country.

It has now emerged that most of the Kenyan politics depend highly on funding from some of the Kenya’s richest personalities and families in order for the politicians to sustain themselves while in power.

Before he died, industrialist Chris Kirubi had disclosed that he used to fund Politicians to a tune of hundreds of millions during campaigns and that opened up the debate on that most Kenyan politicians depend on these philanthropists.

These billionaires do not however just hell the politicians, they get a return too through the networks that they build which comes after their allies get into power.

Among the richest Kenyan billionaires who have been finding Kenyan politics include allies of former Prime Minister Raila Amollo Odinga among them the renown Jimmy Wanjigi.

Jimmy Wanjigi is said to be among the high profile personalities who have stood with Raila Odinga by funding his campaigns and even establishing a secretariat for his presidential candidature.

On their part, two of the senior most Equity bank founders James Mwangi who is the Chief Executive Officer and also founder Peter Munga have been financing most of the Kenyan politicians from central Kenya.

They are said to be the force behind the presidential candidature of former Gatanga constituency Member of Parliament Honourable Peter Kenneth.

On his party, former vice President Kalonzo Musyoka has been receiving the backing of former Machakos county senator Johnstone Muthama who has since ditched him fir deputy president William Ruto.

He is said to be running multibillion businesses that require financing and the only way out is to have a dependable politician who is headed to the top seat.

Other notable businessmen who have played a key role in assembling alliances and financing candidates are Narendra Raval Guru of Devki Group of Companies, the late Chris Kirubi, Royal Media Services chairman S.K. Macharia who backed Raila in 2013 against all odds, and Kenya National Chamber of Commerce president Richard Ngatia among others.
