KARUA LAUNCHES FIRST ATTACK AGAINST DP RUTO SINCE JOINING AZIMIO.

Narc Kenya party leader, Martha Karua, has for the first time since being named Azimio La Umoja presidential running mate criticised Deputy President William Ruto for his leadership style under President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Speaking at a Church event in Makueni county on Friday, June 10, Raila Odinga’s running mate hit out at the DP for trying to outshine his boss during his second term.

Karua asserted that the work of a Deputy President was to assist the Head of State in his duties and not to try to be the boss.

“It is like we are confused in the country. We do not know the chain of command. If you have agreed to be a deputy, be the deputy in all areas until the time you get another post,” she stated.

She acknowledged that she had been picked as a running mate and a potential Deputy President by former Prime Minister, promising that she would play the assistant role well under him.

Karua explained that a country would not thrive if leaders did not understand their roles and how the government works.

“I have been called to be a running mate and a deputy. Therefore, I have to follow the chain of command. If it is not like that, things cannot go well. Even in the house people live in humility.

“In the family, people live by being humble. Even when brothers and sisters have differences in the house, they solve their issues in humility,” Karua added.

Further, she reiterated that the Azimio team would be humble in the campaigns as they popularise the candidature of Raila urging their team to maintain peace in the process.

During Uhuru’s second term, the DP has been criticised for disrespecting his boss and the government. The two fell out after the March 2018 handshake between Uhuru and Raila.

While sharing the same podium as Karua during the National Prayer Breakfast on May 26, Ruto apologised to Uhuru noting that he may have fallen short of expectations during the second term.

“I also know that serving as a Deputy President, I may have fallen short of the expectations of my boss President Uhuru Kenyatta. My good friend, I ask for your forgiveness,” he pleaded.
