OSCAR SUDI EXPOSES WHY POPULAR POLITICIAN DUMPED WILLIAM RUTO

Kapseret Member of Parliament (MP) Oscar Sudi on Monday, February 28, blasted Omingo Magara over his decision to resign from the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

Sudi particularly took issue with Magara’s claims that the lack of democracy in UDA had contributed to his resignation from the party.

The outspoken MP claimed that the former UDA treasurer had asked for a direct ticket in the Kisii gubernatorial race.

Sudi further alleged that Deputy President William Ruto insisted that all aspirants must be subjected to nominations.

“It’s not about democracy in UDA but it’s about your greed and failure to embrace democracy within the party. You wanted to be given a direct ticket which is against our party norms. You denied the party a chance to conduct opinion polls.

“Stop crying, we know this is just but normal (unprintable insult) we are used to,” the MP remarked.

Magara was facing Nyaribari Masaba MP Ezekiel Machogu for the UDA ticket to contest for the Kisii County boss position.

The former South Mugirango MP noted that he resigned over the lack of democracy in the Ruto-led to join the People Democratic Party (PDP).

“For a long time, I have harboured an ambition to be the Kisii County Governor through the UDA party where I was also the national treasurer. However, there have since been developments that render my candidature through the UDA Party impossible.

“After considerable reflections and consultations with my people in Kisii County, national leaders, family and friends, my political future and ambitions cannot be sufficiently addressed by the UDA party, I therefore immediately resign as a party member and as a treasurer,” Magara stated.

He had earlier indicated that he was considering changing political allegiance over what he termed as being undermined by his colleagues.

Magara’s resignation comes days prior to the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga’s tour of Kisii and Nyamira County where he will be expected to welcome defectors to ODM.

The former joins former Youth Affairs Secretary in the DP’s office – Anthony Kibagendi – as the other notable politician from the region to defect from UDA.

Kibagendi has since joined ODM, where he was welcomed by outgoing Governor James Ongwae and the Former Premier.
