MOSES KURIA REVEALS HOW RAILA WILL WIN THE PRESIDENCY

Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria now believes it is impossible for ODM leader Raila Odinga to secure victory in the forthcoming presidential elections without the support of Wiper party boss Kalonzo Musyoka.

Kuria opined that the political impact Kalonzo would bring to the Azimio la Umoja movement still outweighs that brought by Ukambani Governors Charity Ngilu (Kitui), Kivutha Kibwana (Makueni) and Alfred Mutua (Machakos) who have already declared support for Odinga.

“Even Raila knows there is no way Charity Ngilu, Alfred Mutua and Kivutha Kibwana can replace Kalonzo Musyoka,” the MP said in an interview with the Standard newspaper.

“If Raila doesn’t sign Kalonzo to Azimio, he should prepare for Ruto’s coronation, not even swearing-in.”

According to Kuria, the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) remains Odinga’s best option for a tag team to enable him ascend to the country’s highest office in the August showdown.

He urged the former premier to strive to bring OKA under the Azimio la Umoja fold, terming that as a move that would definitely cause panic to the Deputy President William Ruto-led Kenya Kwanza faction.

“I think they (Kenya Kwanza) will be in a statistical dead-heat by May if OKA joins Azimio,” he said.

The lawmaker argued that Odinga made a grave mistake by losing two former OKA co-principals to his rival DP Ruto, namely; ANC leader Musalia Mudavadiand his Ford-Kenya counterpart Moses Wetangula.

He said that despite the entry of the Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) which has tried to consolidate the Western region votes for Raila, the loss of Mudavadi and Wetangula still remains a blow to Odinga’s political matrix.

“Losing Mudavadi and Wetangula was a big loss for Raila. It means he has made Western votes one of the areas he has to do some heavy lifting whereas it could have been a walk over,” stated Kuria.

“On the brighter side, Eugene Wamalwa and his DAP brigade has moved quickly to reduce the damage for Baba but losing the two was avoidable.”

The legislator further claimed he had received invites for the position of deputy president from one of the two leading political camps but intimated that he had turned them down to focus on building his Chama Cha Kazi (CCK) party.

“I have received emissaries from one of the two leading coalitions offering me the running mate position. I am not having sleepless nights about it,” Kuria said.

“The tribulations of the current Deputy President have made me and many others be afraid of that office. My current single-minded focus is to help Chama Cha Kazi win as many Governor, Senator, Women Rep, National Assembly and MCA seats as possible.”
