REST IN PEACE: POPULAR GOVERNOR’S FAMILY IN DEEP MOURNING.

President Uhuru Kenyatta has sent a message of condolence and encouragement to the family, relatives and friends of Mama Rachel Njeri Nyoro.

Mama Rachel Njeri, 88, died on Friday evening, 4th February while undergoing treatment at a Kiambu hospital. She was a mother to Kiambu Governor James Nyoro.

In his condolence message, President Kenyatta eulogised Mama Rachel Njeri as a progressive person who promoted agribusiness activities amongst women in her community.

“Mama Rachel was a hard working and dedicated person. We will always cherish the role she played as one of the pioneers of dairy farming who greatly inspired others to follow in her footsteps,” mourned the President.

The President said Mama Njeri will be remembered as a courageous, brave and selfless leader who endeared herself to many through her generosity and love.

“A strong believer in Christ Jesus, Mama Rachel loved all people irrespective of their backgrounds. As a devoted member of the PCEA church, she actively participated in spreading the word of God in her capacity as one of the leading member of the women’s guild,” President Kenyatta said.

The Head of State wished the Nyoro’s family God’s comfort and fortitude as they come to terms with the passing away of their family matriarch, saying Mama Rachel Njeri was a woman of great faith who raised a gracious family that has continued to serve this nation in various capacities.

“We will forever cherish her good deeds and wonderful service to our great nation over the years. We also appreciate her for raising a strong family that continues to contribute to the development of our country.

“I pray that the Almighty God will comfort and grant each one of her family members the strength and fortitude during this difficult period of mourning,” President Kenyatta comforted the family of Mama Rachel Njeri Nyoro.

Mama Rachel’s death comes barely two weeks after the demise of Mama Jacinta Wanjiku Karugu, the mother to Nyeri’s Deputy Governor Caroline Karugu.
