MAINA KAMANDA CAUGHT DOING THIS TO WANGUI NG’ANG’A

Nairobi Woman Representative aspirant Wangui Ng’ang’a has accused nominated MP Maina Kamanda of unduly trying to influence who will be the candidate for the Azimio La Umoja movement in Nairobi County elections.

Speaking in an interview on Inooro TV on Wednesday, Wangui called out Maina Kamanda, stating that the era of dictatorship was long gone.

She noted that all leaders in the Raila Odinga-led coalition should be accommodated and given a fair playing ground ahead of nominations for the August elections.

“There is a man in this political camp called Maina Kamanda who is trying to dictate to us in this competition for the woman rep seat. I want to tell him the era for dictatorship is long gone… The voters are the one who will decide what they want,” she said.

She claimed that woman aspirants are facing an uphill task ahead of the upcoming elections and thus should be given a conducive environment and fair chance to compete.

“I have no issue with my competitors Passaris and Kwamboka but let everyone be allowed to go to the ground. We are seeking support for our leader Raila Odinga as we campaign for ourselves,” said the former Nairobi MCA.

She added: “He (Maina Ng’ang’a) is supposed to accommodate all aspirants, especially the youth leaders. As women, we are facing battles in this competition. We need a fair chance to campaign.”

At the same time, she drummed up support for ODM leader Raila Odinga saying she is the most suitable country for the country.

“Our leader (Raila Odinga) is giving us the space. Let it not be that a few leaders are going to block other people from joining the Azimio Movement… We don’t need this thing of preferred candidate,” she said.

Wangui joined Azimio la Umoja in December last year as she seeks to contest for the Nairobi Woman Rep seat in the upcoming August polls.

Speaking during the welcoming of Wangui Ng’ang’a to Azimio la Umoja, Mr. Odinga said women will play a critical role in his campaign for the 2022 State House race, appealing to both ODM and Jubilee women leaders to work together.
