POLE SANA ANYANG’ NYONG’O

Four Kisumu gubernatorial aspirants have teamed up to face off with Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o ahead of the August elections.

The four; Kisumu Senator Fred Outa, former governor Jack Ranguma, ousted Kisumu County Assembly Speaker Onyango Oloo and former Kisumu Central MP Ken Obura agreed to set aside their differences and back one aspirant who will contest against Governor Nyong’o.

Speaking on Tuesday after a closed-door meeting in Kisumu, former Speaker Onyango Oloo said they had agreed to the decision in response to the people’s requests.

“Your prayer for us to produce one candidate who will restore the lost glory of Kisumu, who will allow our people to trade without fear or hindrance has been answered,” he said.

“We have heard your cries that we should provide one candidate to confront Professor Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o.”

Oloo further affirmed that their preferred candidate shall be announced in two weeks time after their (candidate) resignation from office.

“In the next few weeks we are going to present that candidate and he is one of us here,” he said.

On his part, former Governor Ranguma said he is working closely with the team for a better Kisumu.

“I worked very well when I was the Governor and I allowed people to fend for themselves, I did not throw out anybody from their places of doing business,” he said.

Governor Nyong’o, who is serving his first term in office, is hoping to re-clinch the seat in the August elections.
