Kirinyaga governor Anne Waiguru has indicated she will not mind being Kenya’s deputy president.

Waiguru stated that although she has all it takes to become Deputy President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party running mate, she is currently focused on retaining her seat.

Speaking to Spice FM on Tuesday, January 25, the county boss however cautiously added that the choice on who becomes UDA party running will solely be decided by Ruto himself.

“What I know the decision on who will be the running mate is the decision of one William Ruto. The only thing we are expecting is the issue of where that running mate comes from. I think it would be a great honour to be picked as UDA running mate,”she emphasised.

Waiguru’s name has prominently among high-profile women politicians whom gender activists have fronted for the second-highest on the land.

“I hope and pray when deputy president chooses a running mate, he chooses a woman. However, when discussing the choice, which one should be a running mate, I don’t think that is a conversation that is done at a committee level. At least I am not a party to that,”she added.
