REVEALED: DP RUTO FINALLY NAMES THOSE BEHIND ITUMBI’S KIDNAP AND TORTURE

Deputy President, William Ruto has finally named those behind ITUMBI’S kidnap and torture.

He has linked the government to the abduction and torture of digital and campaign strategist.

In a statement made by Ruto, he pointed a finger at the very government in which he is the  second in command, accusing it of masterminding the ordeal that befell the outspoken strategist.

He hinted that police officers were behind the attack on Itumbi that resulted in his hospitalization.

“I saw his heavily bangled arm and legs, the result of torture by people who should have been there to protect him and us all,” the DP wrote.

The DP made the remarks after visiting Itumbi at the Nairobi West Hospital on Wednesday, December 28.  He further accused the government of using threats and violence against his supporters.

“They have now turned violent & fatalistic after all the negative narratives, threats and blackmail against us failed,” the statement read in part.

Ruto becomes the highest-ranking government official to speak out about the alleged abduction and torture of Itumbi. Earlier, politicians allied to the DP including Nandi Senator, Samson Cherargei, pined his disappearance on the government.

On December 23, Itumbi’s family raised an alarm over their kin who had gone missing. His lawyer, Moses Chelangach claimed that he was abducted in Thindigua by three unknown men into an awaiting vehicle that drove off.

However, he noted that Itumbi was not in police custody stating that they had visited the Parklands police station, where they were told he was booked.

Itumbi was found the following morning beaten and abandoned by his captors. His brother, David, told the media that he had been abducted by police officers who had beaten him to a pulp.

According to Ruto, Itumbi will be confided tohis bed for a month.

The police distanced themselves from the incident. In a statement, Police Spokesperson Bruno Shioso urged the public to desist from speculating on circumstances surrounding the incident adding that they had launched a probe into the matter.
