PRESIDENT UHURU ISSUES A TOUGH WARNING TO KABETE POLICE OFFICERS.

President Uhuru Kenyatta has issued a tough warning to Kabete police officers.

Uhuru has pleaded with police not to misuse their guns.

Speaking during a GSU passing out parade on Wednesday, Uhuru asked police to talk about their family problems and not going for the gun.

“Mambo ni mengi lakini hakuna shida haiwezi kutatuliwa watu wakiongea..,” (Issues are many and nothing can’t be resolved when people talk) he said.

Uhuru said it was better to address issues than kill people.

“Kama kitu kinakusumbua unawezaongelesha wenzako.Mashida ni mingi. Mental health is a problem but can be addressed when you reach out,” he said.

“Your gun is for protection not to take lives…this problem is there and and we want to deal with it. But I am pleading with you, if you have a problem at home or at work, look for someone to talk to.”

Uhuru said they can talk to family members or even the police bosses around.

“You will get a solution by talking to them. There is nothing that cannot be resolved. There is no need to do what you are doing. We have this problem and it is part of us. Please step forward,” he said.

“There is no shame in it.. we can help you solve your problem and become even a better officer.”

He was reacting to constable Benson Imbatu attached to Kabete police station who went home with his AK47 rifle and picked a quarrel with his wife Carol Imbatu.

Neighbours and bodaboda riders who operate near the Heights Apartment where the officer stayed rushed to the house to check what had happened.

This was after they also saw a fire emanating from the house, police said.

And in the process, Imbatu stepped out with his gun blazing and felled five other people including two bodaboda riders and his neighbours in different locations near the house.

Imbatu was under investigation over the fatal shooting of a man in Mountain View estate, Nairobi eight months ago.

He was also “stressed” over constant quarrel with his lover Carol, his friends and family said.

He had moved with Carol to the house where he killed her early this month. But Imbatu had been at Kabete police station for the last three years.

This gave him room to start a bar near where he took his life. Carol is said to have been running the bar business.

His friends and relatives revealed Imbatu had been suspecting infidelity on Carol and would at times isolate himself and even smoke “bad things”to forget it.
