WILLIAM RUTO HUGE GIFT TO THE PEOPLE OF NYERI

Deputy president William Ruto on Saturday dished out over Sh7million in his first day of his two-day visit to Nyeri on Saturday.

This was viewed as an effort to counter opposition leader Raila Odinga who had visited the county recently.

Raila visited Nyeri a week ago where he met local residents including elders and the youth where he sold his azimio la umoja.

The DP started with Karatina market in Karatina town where he donated Sh3 million for market traders and a further Sh 1 million for second hand clothes traders.

Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua topped up the amount with Sh 1 million.

In Konyu, Mathira constituency, Ruto pledged Sh0.5 million for women supporters, Sh0.5 million for a bodaboda Sacco and Sh1.5 million for Konyu women group.

Speaking during one of his stop overs, Ruto said he is the only person who stood with the president when he was seeking the presidency.

Alikuwa anaturingia eti nobody can stop reggae. Kwa sababu kuna Mungu, Hiyo reggae ilikwama,” he said amid chants.

Ruto drummed up support for his bottom up model.

The bottom-up economic model is a blueprint targeting to promote investments of ordinary Kenyans and empowering them financially so the country can generate taxes to spur the economy.

Gachagua criticized the Jubilee government for evicting first and second hand clothes traders from the railway land saying the land is currently being used for grazing.

Kandara MP Alice Wahome said those imagining that they can  sell the opposition leader in the region were daydreaming.
