KUMBE! SURVIVOR OF MWINGI BUS ACCIDENT SPEAKS.

A survivor and a witness of the Mwingi bus tragedy has given a blow by blow account of how his attempts to save more than twenty lives fell on deaf ears.

According to this survivor, he warned the driver of the bus not to follow that place but he could not take his advice, maintaining that he was an expert on the wheel for so many years.

Si nilimwambia basi ni tofauti na lorry akakataa. Na niliambia tu uyu jamaa vizuri basi ni tofauti na lorry itasombwa na maji within seconds its gone na uyu jamaa aka inisist inaeza enda. You can’t! Ona sasa ameua watu hapo bure akidhani ni expert. Hao ni watu wanakunywa maji hapo ndani.” Said the Mwingi man who happened to be near the accident scene.

According to a video in possession of Sonko News, the bus was trying to maneuver its way out of a swollen river before it plunged into the water.

The bus then started drowning with only one person managing to get out of the window as the others struggled inside it helplessly.

Until now, Sonko News can authoritatively report that more than 20 lifeless bodies have been recovered from the accident.

However, Kenyans who could not stomach the Mwingi bus tragedy put the blames squarely on the hands of the driver. The reactions were mixed as follows:

“Not everyone sees these posts…not everyone is on Facebook and those who see it,,seems it falls to deaf ears and blind eyes..there’s this notion drivers have in Kenya.,.I know this road since I was a small boy…you will see drivers measuring the depth of water with sticks before crossing yet you don’t know the push the water could give you…Kenyan drivers tuko na ujuaji mingi..things like nimeendesha gari miaka mingi is costing us lives…abirira nao wanakufa wakisema tunakuaminia Dere..”

“This is what happens when a driver makes poor risk assessments on the road. One of reasons for this is when you pay out money to receive DL without attending for classroom trainings in order to cut costs. I always believe there’s a difference between a driver who attended real classes and another one who did it practically through friends and subsequently paid some little cash only to receive driving licence. These 2 drivers can never make same judgements on the road. Let’s be careful on the roads, we all have one life to live.”

“But surely who thot of building a bridge inside the river instead of over the river…ama I have the wrong idea for a bridge..cdf..bridges this side are like this.”

“It’s funny how passengers can just sit comfortably and wait to be tested as specimen.. Common Sense is not common..Shuka cross to the other side mguu Wacha dereva ajaribu ujanja kivyake.”

“Update please😱😱Do they even have a thought of maybe the babies inside that vehicle with the mum’s😕😕my God! Maji ata ya glass inaeza ikakuua tu..”

“Very silly driver ,I always wonder how schools employ such kind of a driver, meaning if it were students all will have perished 😢😢”

“I must say that I’m extremely heartbroken to an extent that I feel like literally punishing some drivers. What’s wrong with you?! I had watched a clip earlier today of a matatu going down this hostile water and even after all the efforts made to prevent further incidents via social media, some one is still deaf and blind to see the dangers involved by risking to cross this place.

Sincerely hawa drivers plus the people whom I’m seeing trying to guide them here be charged. This is ignorance of the highest order 😔 😟 “

“School buses were lifted carrying passengers except school children look now. The Headteacher of this school must go to jail to set an example to others.”

“That many drivers are not able to comprehend just how much surface area of the tyre is in contact with the road at any given time.”

“Surely until when shall these human race learn  something,  must it be through  experience  or after  causing death, am really 😥”

“Mwingi is Kalonzo’s home town and he has done absolutely nothing about the bridges”

“Na ukiona bus nzima imemezwa and it was on its wheels…that’s deep…Imagine the confusion in that bus, getting to the windows in darkness of the water,Maybe others had seat belts on….is hoori ke!!!I hope the driver survives to be haunted!!!!!!😭😭”
