A THIEF BEATEN MERCILESSLY DURING DP RUTO’S EVENT

A youth, accused of theft, was cornered by an agitated mob at Deputy President William Ruto’s Karatina, Nyeri County meeting on Saturday, December 4.

The young man, dressed in a grey hoodie and black jeans, was alleged to be a pickpocketer who targetted a section of the attendees. His plan and efforts to steal from them reportedly backfired.

In a video shared online, the agitated mob could be seen dragging him across the field while confronting him.

Some youth descended on him with blows and kicks while others clutched on his clothes pulling him in all directions.

The alleged pickpocketer, however, pleaded for his life while attempting to defend himself from the mob that was threatening to lynch him.

“Let me go! Stop pulling me,” he pleaded but the crowd heard none of his pleas.

Police officers at the ground intervened and saved him from the mob. He momentarily argued with the officers before being whisked to safety.

The crowd claimed that they caught him in the act and urged the police to apprehend and charge him on Monday, December 6, when courts resume.

The incident occurred as the DP was addressing the gathering in Karatina where he unveiled recently constructed classrooms and inspected other development projects in the area.

“The students who will sit exams next year should promise us that they will perform exceedingly well,” stated the DP as he opened the classrooms.

“Education is a fundamental investment in the future of our nation. We must continue to create the best possible learning environment for our children. We simply must.”

The DP also conducted a Harambee for 42 Konyu women groups and Konyu Boda Boda Sacco at Kieni Primary School grounds in Kieni Constituency, Nyeri County. He lauded the women for their spirit and tenacity and desire to make Kenya a better place.

“We also celebrate retired President Mwai Kibaki for his solid economic leadership during his time in office. The foundation he built enabled the work of the Jubilee administration,” he added while addressing a gathering at a market.

Ruto was accompanied by Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru, MPs Rigathi Gachagua (Mathira), Ndindi Nyoro (Kiharu), Alice Wahome (Kandara), Kimani Ichungwah (Kikuyu), and Aisha Jumwa (Malindi).
