East African Spectre
According to its website, the company was established in 1971 at the Kenya Industrial Estates.

The name Spectre was coined from its initial name – Standard Processing Equipment Construction which produced steel windows, doors among other steel products.

The company has a cylinder manufacturing plant and deals with Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG).

How it started
In June, Raila revealed his humble beginnings, giving the chronology behind the birth of the company.

The former PM said the company came into being when he was a don at the University of Nairobi.

Standard Processing Equipment began after an Indian technician asked Raila to acquire the machinery dumped by Indians in Uganda, who were being kicked out by the unfriendly Iddi Amin regime.

The question for him then was how he would raise the capital to get the machinery and start his business.

He earned a monthly pay of KSh 2,000 as a don, with the required machinery being valued at KSh 12,000. To raise the amount, Raila said he had to sell his German drive to acquire the machinery.
