LUXURIOUS HOMES KENYAN GOVERNORS LIVE IN

Kenyan politicians are synonymous with opulence, class,  show off and prestige . This is reflected in their daily lifestyle, as well as that of their family members. From the vehicles they drive, the estates they live in, the houses they own and the clothes they wear.

Since the 2013 General Election that saw the country elect 47 County Governors, the devolution story has been turned into a show of might with each regional head going all out to display their taste through expensive homes.

Although some of the first term (2013 – 2017) Governors failed to successfully defend their seats, they still carry on with that opulence.

Kenyans.co.ke has compiled a mini-list of some of the expensive homes belonging to former and sitting Governors.

1.) Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru
Waiguru’s mansion is located in Kitisuru, near the International School of Kenya. It is estimated to be worth Ksh150 million.

Kenyans got a glimpse of the mansion in 2015, when the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission officials stormed her house.

2.) Migori Governor Okoth Obado
Obado’s home is estimated to have cost a total of Ksh100 million.

The home puzzled many after it was established that not a single coin was paid to the contractor.

Detectives from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) indicated that the home was built by Mbingo Enterprises, one of the dubious firms owned by Obado’s accomplices.

3.) Official residence of Mandera governor
The County Government incurred huge costs in building the two-storey castle-like home for the office of the governor.

The house spots a stunning exterior with an expansive perimeter wall. It literally stands out like a rose in the desert, spotting its grey colour and large American-style windows.
