REVEALING OF OKA PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE

Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi now says the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) will announce its presidential candidate early next year.

Speaking to journalists after a Sunday church service at Friends Church Ngong Road, the OKA co-principal said the alliance’s technical team is still working on things and Kenyans will know the candidate next year.

Mudavadi further assured Kenyans that there is no rift between him and his OKA co-principals Kalonzo Musyoka, Moses Wetangula and Gideon Moi.

This is amid speculations that he might not be in good terms with the others after not having been spotted with them lately.

Mudavadi was notably absent from Sunday’s OKA rally in Kajiado where Wetangula, Kalonzo and Moi took their campaigns.

However, Musalia says he is recovering from illness and has been advised by his doctor to avoid public rallies.

Mudavadi’s statements come just a day after a group of legislators from ANC announced that they want the OKA principals to name a presidential candidate by next month. The legislators, led by Kakamega senator Cleophas Malala, issued ultimatums, claiming that time is running out and that the race for State House is heating up.

They also threatened to seek alternative political alliances if the principals failed to agree on a candidate to represent the OKA in the general election next year.

The five OKA principals announced earlier in November that they would name their presidential candidate within eight weeks, which is due on December 31.
