KALONZO GIVES RAILA ODINGA A STERN WARNING

Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has reiterated that President Uhuru Kenyatta should retire with his handshake partner, Raila Odinga, once his term ends in 2022.

Kalonzo said the ODM leader will have served Kenyans in many ways in his political career by August 2022, and age will have caught up with him.

Speaking on Emoo FM on Wednesday morning, the former vice president nonetheless thanked Uhuru and Raila for agreeing to a handshake when the country was on the brink of violence after the 2017 elections.

“My thinking is that President Uhuru should go home with Raila. If you look at the ages of all the others who want to contest for the presidency, Raila is way ahead of us,” he stated.

Kalonzo further said he is hoping that his One Kenya Alliance (OKA) partners Gideon Moi (Kanu), Moses Wetang’ula (Ford Kenya) and Musalia Mudavadi (ANC) will back his candidature.

All OKA principals have indicated they will be contested for the top seat.

Kalonzo further reiterated that Raila is welcome to join OKA as long as his intention is not to get the other principals to back him for the presidency.

The Wiper leader further urged the Kalenjin community not to be guided by emotions as they pick leaders in 2022.

“Do not be guided by emotions in 2022. You should shun this notion of ‘it must be our man’” he stated.

Kalonzo further told the Kalenjin community that they share a long history with his Kamba people.

“The problem is that when I talk about how Kalenjin and Kamba communities have enjoyed strong ties, some people say I am propagating tribalism.”

“ For a long time, ACK heads have either been Kalenjin or Kamba. And during the 1982 coupe, it was General Jackson Mulinge who saved President Moi. You can see we have a long history,” he added.

Kalonzo added that the relationship between the Kalenjin and the Kamba should be strengthened.

“We share a lot of history. I have not come here to preach tribalism but we must remind ourselves about our ties,” he said.

Kalonzo said the Kalenjin community should support his bid since he is experienced, God-fearing, and known for his peace efforts across the globe. “I am ready for the mantle next year. I have supported other people for two terms and this time, I also want them to support me,” he added.

He noted that his Wiper party even nominated a Kalenjin to Parliament- Sammy Kipkorir Seroney.

“I go little slots but I decided to give one to a Kalenjin,” he explained.

The Wiper party leader announced that he has planned a series of tours in the Rift Valley to popularise his candidature among the Kalenjin people.

“I will be coming to your churches to worship with you. I will also have rallies in various parts of the Rift Valley,” he reiterated.

He asked the Kalenjin community to welcome him in the Rift Valley saying Deputy President William Ruto is treated well when he tours the Ukambani region.

Kalonzo expressed confidence that the other OKA principals will pick him as the flagbearer.

“OKA is emerging everywhere. We now have Kadu Asili on board and before December, you will see wonders,” he added.
