ERIC OMONDI EXPOSES CHURCHILL

Popular comedian Eric Omondi recently opened up on his days at Churchill Show. Omondi, who was the show’s best performer before he quit to go solo narrated how he worked for months on the show without getting paid.

He made the revelations in a bid to defend the show’s owner, Churchill Ndambuki over allegations that he shortchanges his comedians.

“When you are in school you learn from the teacher and go out there and put what you have learnt into practice. Churchill gives you a platform, and Churchill has never called anyone, we all went there on our own. So, it’s upon an individual to make something out of the platform,” Eric Omondi said during a recent interview with radio presenter Massawe Japanni.

He claimed that for the three-season he was on Churchill Show, Churchill never paid him, but he was grateful for the platform. ““I’m saying this from experience; I have the moral authority, more than Churchill, to talk about this topic.

It bothers me, and I think it’s just nonsense of the highest order… He never paid me, but I didn’t want the money however by the time I was half-season, I was making millions,” he added. “I’m actually the one who is supposed to pay Churchill because he put me where I am today, not the other way round.”

Over the past few months, and especially in 2020, multiple comedians came out to claim that Churchill had been shortchanging them while he rolls in millions.

Churchill neither denied nor accepted these claims, choosing instead to remain largely silent, apart from one occasion during the burial of former comedian Othuol Othuol when he castigated comedians for living the high life.

“Most of you have performed high school drama festival, primary schools to the national level and it ends up in State House, have you asked yourself what happens to those talents? That is how most of the dreams die.

The reason why you see them say Churchill comedian when something bad happens is because it’s the only platform that they get to be seen. Listen, I am not the government and I am not funded by the government,” he said.
