GOVERNMENT SHUTS DOWN SCHOOLS.

Popular kenyan highschool, AIC Ngeria Girls has been closed and parents asked to pick their children over student unrest occasioned by mysterious death of a learner.

AIC Ngeria Girls was closed after students demanded answers over the death of a student.

The management of the Kapseret-based school shut the institution after a night of agitation from students over the alleged spread of COVID-19 cases and the mysterious death of one of the girls which occurred last week.

Challyh news understands that the charged learners piled pressure on the institution’s leadership to explain to them the circumstances in which the student passed on.

Principal Susan Sawe is said to have informed the students that the death was a result of a preexisting condition fronted by leukaemia disease; however, the girls sought more answers in relation to the rise of COVID-19 infections in the school.

The students held demonstrations on Friday, August 20, outside their school demanding to be sent home over fears of further spread of the virus.

Parents who arrived at the institution called on the management to conduct mass testing in order to curb the spread of the deadly virus.

“We received messages from the institution informing us to rush to the school only to be told that we have to go home with our children. My daughter is in Form One and they are yet to settle down for their studies, we call on the management to look into the COVID-19 situation and ensure the safety of our children,” said a parent who wished to remain anonymous.

Ngeria girls become the second institution in the area to be shut down after Arnesen’s Boys following the death of a student that was also attributed to COVID-19.

As reported, Arnesen’s Boys was closed indefinitely following the sudden death of a Form One student.
