‘I DON’T NEED YOUR HELP’ RAILA ODINGA SLAMS PRESIDENT UHURU

ODM leader Raila Odinga dismissed the insistence that President Uhuru Kenyatta would secure him leeway to the presidency in the next year’s vote.

Speaking to Tanzania’s Star TV on Saturday, June 19, Raila stated the president would only be installed through the universal suffrage in which eligible Kenyans would participate.

He said Uhuru had no role in deciding who would succeed him, stating Kenyans would decide via the ballot.

“If I want to be president, I don’t need Uhuru to help me. That is a role reserved for Kenyans. Uhuru cannot install me. That is left to Kenyans. Those coming with such claims are spreading propaganda,” Raila said.

Since they came together in 2018, Uhuru and Raila have been on good terms sparking assertions that the president would pass the baton to the opposition chief.

According to Raila’s opponents, one such means would be through the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI), which the opponents say was aimed at awarding positions to certain individuals.

Raila also took the chance to insist his party was not in government as it had been alluded to by some quarters.

Uhuru’s support for NASA
This comes after Uhuru was reported to have pledged his support for one of the NASA principals.

While addressing Kamba leaders at State House, the president is said to have promised to support one of the coalition’s members to succeed him in the coming General Election.

Uhuru’s alleged sentiments ignited reactions from his deputy’s camp, who accused him (Uhuru) of abandoning those behind his election in 2013 and the 2017 re-election.

In his response, William Ruto wondered what would happen to the over eight million Kenyans who sang tano tena in favour of Uhuru.
