JAMES ORENGO’S LATEST MOVE CONCERNING BBI

Siaya Senator James Orengo has reiterated his commitment to the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM Raila Odinga.

The senator who was hosted for a lunch by Kikuyu Council of Elders chairman Wachira Kiago on Thursday expressed support for the Building Bridges Initiative which was overwhelmingly endorsed by the two Houses of Parliament.

“The mountain and the lake have deliberately decided to work together, the voting in the National Assembly and Senate was a confirmation that the handshake is strong,” Orengo said.

Also present at the lunch meeting at Homeland Hotel along Thika Road were Ndaragwa MP Jeremiah Kioni and KCE Secretary General Peter Munga.

The leaders also discussed recent political developments in the country.

Kiago said the meeting was part of the engagements the two communities have been having to improve their relations and unite the country.

The meeting comes a week after Raila held a consultative meeting with the members of the Kikuyu Council of Elders led by chairperson Kiago at his home.

Raila said that they had a thoughtful discussion with the elders which was about moving the country forward, not on the patchy path of tribal lines that have and continue to occasion annihilation.

The ODM leader has asked Kenyans who are willing to join his team as they sit down and talk candidly to do so.
