Chief Justice Martha Koome Salary Revealed

Lady Justice Martha Koome is set to earn a basic salary of Ksh990,000 with allowances that could see her take home up to Ksh1.3 million every month.

The process of installing Koome as Kenya’s first female Chief Justice has hit top gear with President Uhuru Kenyatta having already forwarded her name to the National Assembly for approval.

Meanwhile, the National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi has also urged the MPs to give her vetting top priority.

Koome will be entitled to a house, provided by the Judiciary in Runda, but can choose to reside at her own home just like her predecessor David Maraga, who chose to live in Karen.

Justice Koome will also be the beneficiary of a Ksh10 million inpatient insurance scheme with an outpatient cover of Ksh300,000.

The medical insurance shall cover the CJ, her spouse, and up to four children under the age of 25 years – and who depend on her.

Koome will also get an official car, expected to be a Toyota Landcruiser 200 series or Mercedes Benz. 

Police IG Hillary Mutyambai will dispatch a security team to guard her and her residence at all times.

The judge will wave goodbye to Nairobi’s notorious traffic jam because she will be accorded a chase car and given road clearance privileges. 

As a Judge of the Court of Appeal, Koome’s pay had been ranging from Ksh600,000 to Ksh900,000.
