HUGE RELIEF TO STUDENT AFTER THE PRESIDENT’S NEW DIRECTIVE

President Uhuru Kenyatta speaking on Thursday, April 8, at State House, Nairobi when he delivered the opening statement during a virtual town hall meeting of the OACPSThe President of the Republic of Kenya Uhuru Kenyatta has pardoned all KCPE(Kenya Certificate of Primary Education) candidates who sat for their exams this year.

He has pardoned all the students caught cheating and committing exam irregularities during the national exams.

This was brought forth by the Education Cabinet Secretary Professor George Magoha during a public address.

The Education CS disclosed that seven candidates were caught dead to rights in possession of pre-prepared answer booklets in the examination rooms together with five impersonators were also caught.

According to the Education Cabinet Secretary, the President has now directed that all results for the 1,179,192 candidates who sat the examination are be released and maintained that none should be canceled.

“The President pronounced himself that we shall release the results of all the candidates but those staffers who allowed this to happen shall be severely punished. As you can see, the President is extremely magnanimous with the children and ours is to obey his directive,” Prof Magoha said

Admitting that the negligible cases of irregularities were due to the government’s robust multi-sectorial examinations monitoring team, Magoha explained the “marking process, were either stamped out or nipped in the bud before they could happen.”

“These measures ensured that cases of irregularities during the sitting of the examinations, and during the marking process, were either stamped out or nipped in the bud before they could happen.

We are determined to work with the relevant agencies to ensure that no candidate misses a place in secondary school, In the meantime, I urge all parents and guardians to take good care of their children so that all of them are able to take up their Form One spaces in the schools that they will be admitted to,” he added.

In the overall performance, the 2020 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams were better than in 2019, despite the long break caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

In the 2020 KCPE exams, a total of 8,091 scored between 400 and 500 marks, compared to 9,673 in that range of marks in 2019, and in terms of gender, girls performed better than boys.

The Education CS announced that in this year’s examinations, the number increased exponentially by 95,736 from the 1,083,456 candidates who sat for the exams in 2019.

Female candidate numbers increased slightly more than their male counterparts registering 48,868 and 46,868 respectively with the overall number being 590,450 (50.07 percent) for boys and 588,742 (49.93 percent) girls.
