EDUCATION MINISTRY MAKES NEW ANNOUNCEMENT TO STUDENTS.

Education Ministry headed by CS George Magoha has released application dates for students seeking to join Teacher Training Colleges.
In a statement dated Monday, April 5, the ministry noted that it was ready to begin receiving applications from students seeking to join the colleges for Diploma courses beginning Tuesday, April 6.

The report further indicated that the application exercise would last for two weeks until April Tuesday, April 20, 2021.

Speaking to the press, Early Learning and Basic Education Principal Secretary Dr. Julius Jwan said the applicants were free to apply for a Diploma course in either Primary Teacher Education (PTE) or Early Childhood Development Teacher Education (ECTE).

He, however, warned candidates from applying for both courses.

“Candidates are advised to register in only one Centre,” warned PS Jwan.

Requirements
For a Diploma in PTE, successful applicants must possess mean grade C (plain) in their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).

In addition, all the candidates must have a C (Plain) in English, Kiswahili, Mathematics as well as a humanity subject and a science.

For candidates living with disability, they will be expected to have scored a mean grade of C- (Minus) with the equivalent in the core subjects

For ECTE candidates, they will be expected to possess a mean grade of C (plain) in KCSE while those living with disabilities will be admitted with C- grade.

How to apply
The interested applicants will be required to pick forms from County Directors of Education (CDEs) or download the forms from the ministry’s website.
The course will take three years.
