3 PEOPLE CONFIRMED DEAD IN THIKA ROAD SHOOT OUT.

Three suspected gangsters were shot dead by flying squad officers at Witeithie Market in Juja Kiambu County.
Ununiformed officers trailed the three who are believed to be members of a larger gang that has been on the police wanted list.

Ali Nuno Dubat the Kiambu Police Commander confirmed the incident saying that the suspects were trailed from Dandora in Nairobi.

“These are people we have been trailing for a while. They have committed robberies in Witeithie, Juja from Dandora and Nairobi at large,” said Dubat.

According to the police boss, the suspects had planned to commit a robbery in Witeithie but the person with the fire arm did not turn up on Monday March 29.

The three suspects were riding a motorcycle when they were intercepted at the scene by authorities. The thugs were asked to surrender but instead engaged in a shoot out with officers.

In return, the officers opened fire and gunned them down, killing them on the spot.

A Ceska pistol and three rounds of ammunition were recovered as well as seven spent cartridges shot at the police. In addition, other items recovered were a homemade pistol, a sword and three mobile phones.

Dubat further told the media that the thugs had staged another robbery in Pangani where they shot a lady in the thigh on Sunday March 28.

Elsewhere, on Saturday, March 27, a special police unit raided and killed five suspected robbers in Mombasa after residents complained of increased cases of insecurity in the coastal town.

Nyali Sub-county Police Commander Daniel Mumasaba, revealed that the police unit engaged the criminals in a shootout at their hideout in Mbugoni, Bombolulu, Mombasa County.

The Kenya Red Cross Society has been running programs that aim at discouraging young people from joining street gangs or violent extremist groups.
