WHY DP RUTO IS RESTRICTED FROM LEAVING HIS HOUSE.

Deputy President William Ruto has stated that his bodyguards do not allow him to leave his house to do normal activities as a means of enhancing his security.
The DP stated that he had adjusted his schedule to avoid leaving his official residence, saying such movement always puts him in conflict with his security team.

He said he can only workout at his gym as he could not go outside his compound for his normal run.

“Getting out of my compound is close to impossible as my bodyguards have restricted me from leaving. If I left, it would bring about a lot of logistical issues,” said Ruto.

The deputy president admitted that his private life had been affected by the Covid-19 situation, just like those of many Kenyans.

“My own daughter and son were working from here because of the working from home policy. From government to the private sector, to Kenyans in general, we have done well in managing the Covid-19 situation,” he stated.

Ruto stated that he missed going out window shopping as it allowed him to be free and interact with people.

During an interview with Jalang’o, the deputy president also stated that he did not value material possessions as he had gotten used to living without them before he rose through the ranks.

“As a hustler, you get used to living with anything and in any situation. Nothing is really too important to me, you take life as it comes because you never know what will happen next,” he stated.

The self-declared hustler also mentioned that he loved eating ‘nyama choma’ and roasted maize.

The last time the deputy president was seen breaking the norms was in 2019 when he opted to walk to the parliamentary building for the state of the nation address. During the time, he was accompanied by his bodyguards as he tried to endear himself to the common mwananchi.
