David Murathe Speaks On William Ruto’s Impeachment

The party’s National Management Committee (NMC) had earlier axed Ruto as the deputy leader and forwarded the decision to the National Executive Council (NEC) chaired by President Uhuru Kenyatta, who was to decide his fate.

However, after another NMC meeting held on Monday, March 22, Murathe said the ouster exercise had been halted in honour of Magufuli.

“We have put everything on ice in honour of Magufuli and out of respect for our partnership with Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM). Everything is on hold until we finish mourning Magufuli,” said Murathe as quoted by Standard.

The former Gatanda MP affirmed that NMC still holds to its decision to have the second in command fired from the party leadership.

He, however, said the ouster has nothing to do with his position as the deputy president.

Uhuru’s allies in the party accused Ruto of sabotage and pointed to his association with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), an affiliate party of Jubilee.
