MUTHAMA SPEAKS AFTER AGNES KAVINDU’S WIN.

Former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama has spoken following the landslide win of his ex-wife Agnes Kavindu in the just concluded Machakos by-election.

In a statement, Muthama congratulated his ex-wife for leading a spirited campaign and winning the senatorial seat.

“You have our support as you serve the people of Machakos. To our Muthama Ngengele pongezi for a good show! Let’s pull together and focus on the future,” reads an excerpt of the statement.

At the same time, the former senator asked his followers to shun rumours being peddled around that he is receiving pressure from the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) officials following the loss.

“Hustler fraternity please consider this as fake and fictitious news!” Muthama stated.

A section of Kenyans has been waiting for Muthama’s response as both UDA’s chairperson as well as Kavindu’s ex-husband, having suffered a major political setback in his backyard.

In her victory speech, Kavindu urged Machakos residents to respect her former husband, clarifying that she was not in competition with him.

Muthama and the team might have to go back to the drawing board ahead of the 2022 general elections.

Kitui Senator Enock Wambua, a key ally of Kalonzo, termed Muthama a ‘paper tiger’. He stated that the win indicated that the people of the Ukambani region rejected political merchants who are masquerading as leaders but keen on auctioning the community.

Kavindu garnered 104,080 votes against her opponent, Urbanus Ngele’s 19,705 votes.

The other candidates got votes as follows; Mutua Katuku of Maendeleo Chap Chap (1,476), Francis Munyambu (1,461), Simeon Kitheka (1,448), Lily Mwanzia (927), John Musingi (687), Nthenge Otto (159), Jonathan Maweu (155), Sebastian Nthama (131), and Stanley Muindi (95).
