ANOTHER POLITICIAN DIES OF COVID 19

The County Government of Mandera is mourning the death of Ibrahim Barrow Hassan ( pictured ) who until his death was the CEC for Finance and Economic Planning.
Breaking the news of his demise, Mandera Governor Ali Roba revealed that Barrow had died of Covid-19, terming him as a committed leader who has served the county for eight and a half years.

“Barrow was a discipline and dedicated staff who transformed financial management at the county with a very special commitment to deliver results,” Roba said via a Facebook post.

The governor at the same time reminded the locals and Kenyans at large to treat the Covid-19 pandemic with the seriousness it deserves and adhere to the Ministry of Health guidelines.

Covid-19 has killed 2.67 million people, 1,925 of them in Kenya, which has recorded 115,000 cases since March last year.

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe asked county governments to increase ICU beds as Kenya experiences the third wave of Covid-19. “We are going to emphasize home-based isolation and care because of how stretched hospitals are,” said CS Kagwe.

The third wave of the coronavirus pandemic continues to wreck with new infections, hospital, ICU admissions, and deaths.

By Thursday, the cumulative fatalities now stand at 1,954 as ICU admissions are at 114 across the country.

There are 793 patients currently admitted in various health facilities, 2,250 more patients are under home-based care.

Nairobi is the hotbed of new infections with 713 new cases reported in the capital today in the last 24 hours up from 608 cases yesterday.

This comes at a time when the ministry is calling on Kenyans who are not eligible for vaccination in the first phase to give priority to the essential service providers who are its main target as “We shall announce the time for other members of the public to come out for the exercise when the time comes.”
