SHOCK AS A CLASS SIX PUPIL KILLS A TEACHER.

A 16-year-old class six pupil at Shihuli Primary school, Kakamega County, was arrested for allegedly killing a teacher after disagreeing over water.

The teacher whom police identified as Maurice Khataka Shibutse, is said to have disagreed with the suspect who happen to be his neighbour.

Speaking to The Standard, Khataka’s wife Everlyne Muhenje, disclosed that her husband had stopped the minor from fetching water from his well – something that did not sit well with the suspect.

“My husband declined to allow the suspect to fetch water from our well, he forcibly tried to gain entry, but he was overpowered. He then picked stones and hurled them at my husband and ran away,” claimed Muhenje.

A weeping woman holding out her hand. Former Nakuru Deputy Mayor, Joseph Munyiri, was arrested on Tuesday, April 28, 2020, for beating up his wife Joyce Wangui.

She added that her husband fell to the ground, unconscious, after the pupil hit him on the left side of the head.

The deceased was then rushed to St Elizabeth Mukumu hospital before being referred to Kakamega County Teaching and Referral hospital.

The wife noted that her husband succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at the hospital.

Gerald Murunga, the area Chief, confirmed the incident, adding that the law will take its cause regardless of the age of the suspect.

“It’s very unfortunate that a life had to be cut short after a quarrel over water. This is a heinous act and we have lost a brilliant teacher, a husband and a father. The law will take its course notwithstanding the age of the suspect,” said Murunga

Robert Makau, Kakamega East Sub County Police Commander said the minor was arrested and is in their custody awaiting prosecution.

The administrator further noted that the police will continue with the investigations before the pupil can be arraigned in court to face murder charges.
