DP Ruto Talks To His Supporters About Supporting BBI

Deputy President William Ruto has clarified he has no plans to lead campaign against the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) referendum.

Ruto said he is currently focused on empowering the hustler nation and will not waste time on a matter that does not change the lives of the common mwananchi.

Speaking in Nandi county on Friday, February 26, the DP pledged to respect the will of the people whether or not they vote in support of the constitutional amendment in the referendum

“As the hustler nation, we have no problem with the BBI and all that they are doing to distribute powerful positions. We want to see how we can help Kenyans, hustlers, improve their businesses so that the country can move forward,” he stated.

In an apparent reference to President Uhuru Kenyatta’s State House meeting with pro-BBI political party leaders, Ruto sneered at the leaders saying the next government will not be formed by tribal chieftains.

“They are holding meetings in Nairobi. They are telling us they are planning the next government. The 2022 government will not be formed by tribal leaders but the people at the grassroots,” he added.
