RUTO’S LAST DANCE

Some might call it poetic while others might see it as doom when Ruto’s glimmer of hope came from the Late President’s Moi backyard. A man that took him from obscurity and introduced him to fame and power. The only gift Ruto would give the old man when he was alive was to call his son uncircumcised.

Did Ruto peak a season too early? That is the question most political analysts are grappling with. The chicken seller from Sugoi rose to be the second in command. Many people predicted it would just be a matter of time before he assumes the top job. As day goes by, the job becomes a mirage. Some bookies are putting odds that he is near to his first chicken hustle than moving from Harambee House to State House.

What went wrong? What happened to yake kumi? Well, Raila happened. You cannot wish Raila away. When Ruto wakes up shivering, ice cold despite sweat running down his dark skin, it is the face of Raila that brings nightmares. A face of Raila grinning as he inspects parade during independence day. A grinning face of Raila at Kasarani stadium swearing on the Holy Book to defend and protect the constitution of this country.

Ruto over the years has cultivated in his mind that the presidency is his birthright. To imagine someone can prevent him from becoming commander in chief makes him extremely infuriated. To imagine that person might be the guy he has been giving disgusting nicknames worsens the situation. That is why of late you might think his Twitter account has been hacked by Trump.

Almost every county in this nation has passed BBI unanimously. What’s shameful is that the Mt Kenya region where Ruto has banked all his hopes in voted for BBI. The numbers he has been boasting for close to three years seems like a fairy tale. The MCAs he has been entertaining at Karen with taxpayers money did not raise a voice when BBI was being passed in their counties. It seems as if God wants him to return the YK92 money.

Ruto has been hypocritical in his bragging of Christianity. He has projected himself as the only politician who has God by his side. Calling other politicians waganga and wavuta bangi while exalting himself as a holy person who walks in God’s ways. It is funny when you realize between him and Raila, it is Ruto who has admitted having a child out of wedlock. It is the same Ruto who was accused at ICC for crimes against humanity. It is Ruto not Raila who grabbed children’s land and when the little kids innocently came asking where they will be playing at they got teargassed. Why then does Ruto say he walks with God and that Raila is mganga?

As Challyh News compiles his last dance, it is worth to point out he might soon be left on the stage alone. He is a man now surviving on paid support and youths who have been smacked into wheelbarrow frenzy by the digital genius Dennis Itumbi. When the money runs out to pay politicians and Itumbi is called back home to answer call of duty, Ruto will all be alone. Angry, depressed and lonely. As he will be exiting the stage, he will wonder how careful calculated plans failed. No pomp just signing out with a whimper.
