While making the announcement, Bungoma Deputy Governor Prof Charles Ngome said that Mama Selina Nasike Wangamati, 82, died in her sleep at her Kanduyi home.
“The Office of the Governor regrets to announce the passing on of mother to Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wafula Wangamati. Mama Selina passed on peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday night (February 16, 2021) at her Kanduyi home,” read part of the presser from the Deputy Governor.
According to Prof Ngome, Governor Wangamati and his family have started arrangements for her funeral, which he said would be communicated in due course.

The deceased was the second wife to the governor’s father, Patrick Wangamati, who at one time served as the Webuye Town Council Mayor and former Ford Kenya nominated MP. Wangamati is also the former Chairman of the Luhya Council of Elders.
