KDF RECRUITMENT HINDERED BY POOR TEETH.

The ongoing KDF recruitment has faced challenges after most of the youth were disqualified due to bad teeth.

KDF bosses overseeing the recruitment in Embu County decried that many of the young men and women in the area were disqualified due to cavities and poor dental health suspected to have been caused by chewing muguka – a popular cash crop in the area.

According to Lieutenant. Colonel. Philip Okoth, only one woman and nine men made the cut in the entire Embu County.

According to Lt. Okoth, the recruitment process recorded the lowest number of recruits despite many of the potential soldiers meeting education qualifications.

The successful female candidate expressed joy at the opportunity to serve in Kenya’s highly regarded disciplined force.

“This has been my dream job to offer service to the country as frontline personnel,” said Madrine Kariuki – the only female who made the cut.

Okoth noted that some of the youth had no original certificates and that automatically made them loose the opportunity

Lt. Okoth Further said that some of the youths were over the required age as a recruit should be 28 years and below.

The lieutenant who supervised the recruitment insisted that, the whole process was free and fair  for all adding that anyone found asking for bribes will face the consequences.

He further said that the low turnout was because of drug abuse, ill health and lack of guidance among the youth.

A past KDF recruitment drive

On Monday 8 February, the military body published a document detailing rules and documentation candidates are expected to present at the recruitment centers in order to stand a better chance at clinching the job.

KDF shared a sneak peek video into the tough training sessions guaranteed to pick only the best who can endure its tough working conditions.

The exercise involves a lot of physical training that requires mental and physical perseverance with the trainers taking the trainees through intense workouts such as crawling on the ground in a technical format as well as operating guns.

Physical fitness is made a priority in KDF which is regarded as a foundation in each and every soldier.
