FATHER BEATS DAUGHTER’S BOYFRIEND TO DEATH.

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have apprehended a 52-year-old man for allegedly killing a Class 8 Pupil for spoiling his daughter.

Reports indicated that the suspect assaulted the 17-year-old pupil from Chemego primary school on suspicion that he was involved in a love affair with his 13-year-old daughter.

The deceased reportedly succumbed to the injuries while be in treated at the Vihiga hospital where he had been rushed.

“The victim’s legs, cheeks, forehead and upper lip had been most affected following the assault, but the unfortunate incident was kept under wraps until yesterday,” the DCI stated.

Police stated that the suspect would remain in police custody pending arraignment  in court.

In yet another incident, a father of an 18-year-old girl was arrested and detained after he allegedly stabbed his daughter’s boyfriend killing him.

Reports indicated that the 61-year-old stabbed the deceased after he bumped into him in his home, with his young daughter. The suspect is still in police custody as police continue with their investigations.

The incidents come at a time when the DCI has been keen on implementing plans aimed at curbing crime in the country. 

From unveiling a new child’s protection unit to adding new experts into the Forensic Documents Examination Section in an attempt to reduce the crime rate in the country.

The DCI launched a toll-free hotline  number 0800722203, which the public can use to anonymously report crime to the authorities.

The move is meant to ensure that crimes are brought to the attention of police promptly.

A recent report by the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) revealed a 5.8% increase in crime rate in 2019 as compared to 2018. The figures rose from 88,268 in 2018 to 93,411 in 2019.
