MAGOHA ORDERS STUDENTS TO BE EXPELLED FOREVER

Education Cabinet Secretary Professor George Magoha, says expelled students should not be admitted in other schools.

Magoha, who was on a visit at Ogande Girls High School, assured teachers of government support, and also assuring them of security during the current wave of unrest in schools.

“The Ministry of Education has laid down the manner in which things shoudl be carried out. I want to encourage the boards of management to be very strict and proactive in what they are doing. The Ministry of Education is in discussion with the DCI to actively track these offenders. Let them be warned that we are creating a record and database that will follow them for the rest of their lives,” said Magoha.

The Education CS says the government will test students to weed out drug use which he says is partly contributing to the unrest in schools.

Magoha maintains that parents will bear full responsibility for reconstruction of destroyed infrastructure.

Barely six weeks to this year’s KCSE examinations, a worrying trend of school fires and property destruction resulting in massive losses in terms of infrastructure is threatening the success of an already delayed academic year.

Between Sunday night and Monday morning, five secondary schools witnessed student unrest with several structures set ablaze.
