KCPE CANDIDATE DIES AFTER SCIENCE EXPERIMENT

A class eight pupil in Kiambu county died  after he fell from a flag post on Monday, January 25. 

The tragic incident is said to have occurred during a science lesson when the pupil was allegedly asked by a teacher to climb the flag pole to retrieve an object that had stuck at the top of the flag.

-year-old boy fell and was rushed to hospital where he died  while being treated. 

Angry parents and villagers stormed the school on Tuesday, January 26, claiming that the boy died as a result of severe punishment from a teacher who had ordered the candidate to climb the flag.

However, Kiambaa sub-county Police CommanderMichael Muchiri dismissed the punishment claims saying it was a normal science lesson.

“We can tell you with certainty that this was not a punishment. It was a normal science lesson that turned tragic,” Muchiri stated.

The parents demanded answers from the teachers and the school administrators. However, the headmaster had taken off by the time the parents were getting to the school.

Police had to intervene as learning operations were disrupted.  

The body of the deceased was taken to Kihara Level Four Hospital awaiting post-mortem.

In a similar incident, a number of parents stormed Kiamaina Primary School in Nakuru County on January 15, 2021, following the death of a student  who was allegedly assaulted by a teacher in the school.

The parents took down a perimeter wall as they engaged police in running battles while protesting the death of the student.
