The Deputy President is among the country’s top leaders who has mourned the death of Timothy Njuguga alias Mighty Salim with pain. The famous Mugithi musician passed away on Sunday evening.

However details of what the late had done to the Deputy before his death have emerged.

The DP eulogised Mighty Salim as a creative and talented musician with a melodious voice that made his songs outstanding. He reminded Kenyans that through his numbers and wonderful performances, Mighty Salim charmed Mugithi lovers with his guitar and lyrical mastery. Rest in Peace!

It has been reported that the Mugithi artist had endorsed a lyrical song to the Deputy President just five months before his death. While eulogizing Salim as a master, Ruto’s key ally and Tangatanga spokesman, Dennis Itumbi recognized him as a great star and thanked him for the great song he had endorsed for the Deputy President.

“Go well Mighty Salim. Musicians, live in the beauty of their lyrics. You were a master. I personally did the little I could, like many other Kenyans. You were a great star. Asante sana for the great song endorsing DP @WilliamsRuto just FIVE months ago,” tweeted Itumbi.

Mighty Salim was pronounced dead by close family members as he was being rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital on Sunday.

Soon after news of the death spread, fans and colleagues trooped to social media platforms, with many describing Mighty Salim as a music legend who transformed the mugithi genre alongside his late brother Salim Junior.

According to musician Kamande Wakioi, Salim fell ill and was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Kamande revealed on Sunday evening that Salim has been battling kidney disease.

“Mighty Salim is indeed dead. It’s a big blow to the family and we pray that they are strong during the hard time,” Kamande said.

Mighty Salim is a brother to Sarafina Salim and Salim Young. Sarafina posted a moving tribute on social media saying, “There are no goodbyes for us. Wherever you are, you will always be in my heart. Rest well my brother Njuguna witu.”
