RELATIVE TO PRESIDENT UHURU KENYATTA MURDERED

Detectives investigating the brutal murder of a relative of President Uhuru Kenyatta have uncovered conflicting evidence from what was initially recorded.

The victim identified as Peter Njuguna Mbeca was a grandson of Mama Ngina Kenyatta’s father, Senior Chief Muhoho Gathega.

According to initial police reports, the 65-year-old businessman was attacked in his home by a gang on Sunday, January 10. His wife Teresia Wanjiru Njuguna who was with the deceased was however not harmed in the incident.

Mbeca had multiple injuries on the face and head when he was found in his bedroom at his Kiamwangi home.

In an affidavit filed at the Kiambu Law Courts by Inspector Raphael Wanjohi from the DCI Homicide unit, Wanjiru’s account of the circumstances that led to her husband’s death contradicted police findings at the scene.

Wanjohi noted that the severe injuries on the victim’s lower jaw were inconsistent with the claims of being ambushed and attacked by robbers.

He added that the position the investigators found him in was inconsistent with the injuries as blood was oozing from the right side of his face and head.

The detective added that the deceased was found on his knees facing the edge of the bed

Kiambu Senior Resident Magistrate Wilson Rading heard that the couple had dinner on that night of his death with the detective confirming that Wanjiru was the last person to be with Mbeca.

Detectives found a blood-stained ax suspected to have been used to kill the businessman hidden under a couch in the house.

According to an earlier police report, Mbeca had hosted three elders at his home.

They left at 9 pm when he escorted them to his gate but when returning to the house, he was accosted by five men who ordered him into the house.

The assailants allegedly locked Wanjiru in a room and started to beat him up.

Kiambu County Commander Ali Nuno stated that a long-standing family feud could be linked to the incident.

The court on Tuesday, January 12, allowed police to hold the widow of the businessman for 10 days to complete investigations into his brutal killing.
