SEE HOW FORMER NAIROBI GOVERNOR EXPOSED IEBC OFFICIALS.

Former Nairobi Governor Honourable Evans Kidero opened up on his victory of the 2017 elections. According to the Nation on Monday, January 11, Kidero revealed that he won the Nairobi Gubernatorial election.

Kidero disclosed that he won the election but was surprised that the IEBC did not declare him the winner. The former governor, however, stated that he could not file an appeal at that point.

“I am certain that I was not defeated in the 2017 General Election in Nairobi. I wanted to petition the election results but later retracted after realizing the petition would fail,” he said at Christ the Healer Anglican Church of Kenya in Homa Bay Town.

“Up till now, no petition has sailed through so I would have wasted time and money,” Kidero explained.

Kidero failed to defend his seat as he lost out to Mike Sonko. His successor was, however, impeached in December of 2020 leaving the post open.

The former Nairobi Governor declared his interest in running for the Homabay Governor’s post in 2022. Kidero noted that it was about time he went back home and led his people.

He aims to unseat the out of favor current Governor Cyprian Awiti who has been at the helm since 2017. Kidero will also have to fight in the nomination as the region is an ODM zone.
