CHAOS AS MCAs EXCHANGE BLOWS DURING SPECIAL SITTING. (VIDEO)

Chaos erupted at a County Assembly, Nyandarua on Monday morning, January 11 during a special sitting.

The special sitting was convened by Deputy Speaker Zachary Njeru to a Gazette notice on the impeachment of Speaker Ndegwa who was ousted on Friday, January 8.

Chaos erupted in the assembly after eight MCAs opposed to Ndengwa’s impeachment stormed the house shouting and throwing seats and other weapons at the Deputy Speaker who was about to chair the sitting.

This led to a chaotic scene at the assembly as the two rival faction traded blows turning the floor of the House into a battlefield with broken seats, pieces of wood and debris littering the scene.

The MCAs managed to resolved to pull out of the County Assemblies Forum, which is chaired by the impeached Speaker and dissolved the County Public Service Board before the House was adjourned for two weeks.

Ndengwa’s impeachment motion was sponsored by Majority Leader King’ori Wambugu who accused him of gross misconduct, nepotism and abuse of office.

He has since moved to court to challenge his ouster terming it illegal as the House was on recess.

His lawyers also stated that the MCAs had not followed the due procedure for impeaching the speaker.

But the 30 MCAs have resolved not to allow the embattled Speaker to resume office.
