SCHOOL BUS FERRYING PUPILS OVERTURNS ON HIGHWAY.

A school bus full ferrying the pupils to school on Thursday morning, January 7, overturned at Mwirine area of the Meru-Kaaga bypass.

According to a report byCitizen Digital, the bus was carrying at least 26 pupils of MCK Kaaga Academy who sustained minor injuries in the accident.

The injured pupils were taken to the Meru Level 5 Hospital where they are receiving treatment while others were taken to school for counseling.

Dr. Joseph Wahome, who is in charge at the facility, said that all the children are in stable condition.

According to Dr. Wahome, 19 out of the 26 pupils had sustained minor injuries while the other seven had been taken for an X-ray.

This is the second accident involving learners since the schools were reopened on Monday, January 4.

On Wednesday, January 6, a PSV ferrying learners to school from Mombasa was involved in an accident, killing one pupil from Mwatate junior school and leaving others injured in Taita Taveta County.

14 other students who were also in the vehicle escaped with minor injuries.

“Most of them were primary school children, a driver and a conductor. Most of them had minor injuries but the ones who were critically injured were the conductor and one child.

“The conductor had a deep cut wound on the scalp. We managed to sort him out and ensured that he was okay. The child as well had a skull fracture and had multiple bleeds on the nose and ears. 30 minutes later, we were told that the body was no more,” a doctor stated.
