MAGUFULI READS THE RIOT ACT IN TANZANIA

Even politeness can become nauseating. The days of humbleness in Tanzania are over. They have had enough of being mocked by their neighbors. Seven years ago they went and bought themselves a little dictator. Oh boy! How much has he grown!

Pombe Magufuli the new dictator in Africa underwent initiation a few weeks ago. He dueled with Tundu Lissu. It was uneven competition. Tundu was just for filling a hole so the elections would not go uncontested. Magufuli won with a landslide amassing 84% of the total cast votes.

It is reported that Tanzania has deported about 900 Mozambican national who had fled terror and bloodbath in their home country. The country of ‘samahani’ no longer welcomes the downtrodden.

Magufuli deported the poor souls even as international media reported that 50 people had been beheaded in northern Mozambique by militant Islamists. The suffering being experienced in Mozambique cannot move Magufuli. Hell, he has even exiled opposition leaders in his country.

The Mozambican government has yet to respond to the deportation of its nationals by the Tanzanian government.

“More than 900 refugees in Tanzania started to be compulsorily moved to Mozambique, it is a coordinated repatriation”, Mr Armando Ngunga, Cabo Delgado’s province state secretary, told DW Radio on Monday evening.

The reports of deportation have also been confirmed by the United Nations High Commisioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Mozambique.

“The figures are rising. Initially Tanzania authorities said there were 352 people but when we counted them one by one, we discovered they were 836 people.”

It seems Magufuli had negated from his earlier promise to be diplomatic about the whole situation. Mozambique Foreign Affairs Minister Carlos do Rosario said that he had talked to Magufuli about the situation during the latters inauguration ceremony.

“We exchanged viewpoints in relation to the political situation, the displaced people and the terrorism in Mozambique. Both countries are aware that we have to stand together in this fight against insurgence,” said Carlos.

Just three days ago, Amnesty International begged Kenya not to deport Former Tanzania MP Godbless Lema and his family back to Tanzania. Godbless fears for his life and the safety of his family were he to be deported back to Tanzania.

Most Tanzanian nationals are living in fear from the dictator in chief. With his party controlling the parliament, our prayers are with Tanzania for the next seven years.
