Senator Millicent Omanga goes Bra-less to celebrate NoBraDay

A few decades ago, Kenya used to celebrate only three holidays: Christmas, New Year and Easter holidays. With Westernization taking root in this East African countries, the celebrations are increasing. Many Kenyans are now celebrating Halloween, Oktoberfest and other popular holidays in the West.

NoBraDay is currently trending on Twitter as women are encouraged to leave their homes without a bra.

No Bra Day is a day that’s celebrated annually where women are encouraged to be bold and post their pictures without a bra on various social media platforms. It’s usually celebrated on 13th October of every year. To encourage others, after posting your picture without bra, you are required to use hashtag #nobraday

National Breast Cancer Awareness Month
No bra day falls in special month of October which is internationally recognized as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In this month organizations are encouraged to come up with projects and events that promote cancer awareness. No Bra Day aims to honor women who are battling breast cancer.

Nominated Senator Millicent Omanga joined the celebrations and left many Kenyans wowed. On her Twitter page she posted, “Today is NO BRA DAY, leading by example, I want to encourage my fellow ladies to forgo wearing a bra to encourage Breast cancer awareness and show support to survivors. #MamaMIRADI”

It’s encouraging to see leaders taking the popular new media platforms to champion noble caused.
