COVID-19 IN KENYA: AFRICA

From one person to now more than a million people, a disease that started as a joke, to now a Seriously feared pandemic, one thing that has brought almost everything to a stand; almost every country’s economy, the education sectors, sports of all kind, Transport sectors and even what many people have always survived on, entertainment, Covid-19, commonly known to many as Corona virus has got every head bowed down to it.

This prevailing condition has made the cosmos which has been known for many generations since the beginning of time to rotate and revolve, to come to a stand still, a rare phenomenon in the history of the universe. Of course many pandemics have happened before this one but human beings are known to experience whatever takes course in their generation. Many diseases including HIV and AIDS now become second talks paving way for this one pandemic Called Corona virus to take it’s position in the highest place as a king who just ascended his throne.

The disease having taken the human race by surprise and hit the world hard has left many still wondering what to do to avoid being a victim but still there’s nothing without a prevention; the World Health Organization through different ministries of Health in all the countries in the world has laid down some guidelines on how to curb the spread of this virus, some of these guidelines being:
Washing hands regularly with soap and water, or clean them with alcohol-based hand rub.
Maintaining at least 1 metre distance between you and others.
Avoiding of touching one’s face.
Covering of one’s mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing.
Staying home if you feel unwell.
Refraining from smoking and other activities that weaken the lungs.
Practicing physical distancing by avoiding unnecessary travel and staying away from crowded places.

The development of a country’s economy Of course depends alot on a working nation but at this point it seems like things won’t be as usual for probably the next three months or even more. At this point not everyone seems to be happy with the situation, each breathing individual on the face of this earth has his/her face frowning except for the few individuals who are making a living out of it by selling protective gears such as masks. The very ‘business’ persons who see the gadgets in the name of helping deal with the pandemic are the ones who are at risk even more. Right now it’s a survival for the fittest situation or mode with all knees knelt and hands lifted high above towards heaven with all hopes that some day the sun will rise and every head that gets up from bed will breathe a fresh air without the current contaminated one that is full of this disease.

Not only has the world’s daily activities stopped due to this still unpreventable disease but alot has been experienced; peace is being witnessed in abundance, leaders ‘shaking hands’ and terrorists have put down their killing tools. And all for what, this pandemic which everyone is trying to fight against. Someone would therefore definitely say that “let the world experience a tragedy and everyone will come together”. Right now every individual on the surface of the earth is aiming for one goal, to survive this disease. It might look like something that began as a joke but over time has become very serious and making world leaders sweat and even doctors sweat even more with the pressure of finding a vaccine before the deadly virus wipes out more lives than it has done now.

Well, what remains to be hoped for by many is that the medical teams across the world and even the world Health Organization will put on more efforts to working towards the discovery of a vaccine that will help save lives around the world. Although many lives have been lost and even the rate of infection still rising each dawn and dusk but many seemingly have their heads help high that at the end of the tunnel there is a light.
But still when all this ends, there’s one question that we humans should ask ourselves; will the peace that exists because of a pandemic still exist when the pandemic is gone or will we go back to our normal animalistic characters because our control factor is over?
