Embakasi East member of parliament has a new career; teaching mathematics. With all schools closed and candidates stuck at home due to the pandemic, Babu Owino had promised to conduct a math’s revision for form four candidates a while ago. Fulfilling his promise, the member of parliament went on Facebook yesterday helping KCSE candidates in their math’s revision.
The first class degree holder in Actuarial science started the online lesson by saying that Mathematics is the easiest subject there will ever be. Before conducting the lesson, he also apologized to all students who do not have smartphones and all those who don’t have internet access.

Embakasi East MP, Babu Owino.
The MP started by working out differentiation tasks. Most students consider differentiation tasks a hard bone to chew. As he proceeded, he tackled other topics like trigonometry, calculus and integration. Babu’s lesson lasted for one hour and twenty- five minutes.
Owino went to high school in Kisumu Boys and earned himself 79 points which was an A- then. He later on proceeded to the University of Nairobi to pursue a bachelor’s degree in actuarial science. He graduated in 2012 with a first class honor’s degree.
Recently, the Kisumu boys’ alumni has been emphasizing on the need for class 8 and form 4 candidates to be tested on content they have been taught.
“The Cabinet Secretary of Education Professor George Albert Magoha Omore must submit to my office those exam papers in advance so that I can verify in advance what has not been taught,” said the concerned MP.
As he winded up, he said he will also conduct a chemistry lesson next week in addition to Mathematics which he will organize in topic form. While this lesson might not have been accessed by many candidates, his efforts and goodwill could not go unnoticed.
