Medical experts have disclosed that 86-year-old Dorita Lasinder Macharia sustained several stab injuries to her neck before she was killed at her residence in Loresho, Nairobi.
Government pathologist Dr Bernard Midia conducted a postmortem examination at Lee Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 3, to establish what led to her death.
The elderly woman also had several other cuts on different parts of her body, indicating that she had been attacked using a sharp object.
The postmortem took more than two hours and was attended by medical experts and lawyers representing the family and the suspects.
Dorita was discovered dead at her Loresho home on Friday evening, October 30. Her killing prompted police investigations that resulted in the arrest of four people.
Although police had requested permission to detain them for 15 days, the court approved 10 days at Gigiri Police Station.
Investigators told the court that they needed more time to obtain CCTV recordings, question witnesses, and examine phone records that could provide important information about the events surrounding Dorita's death.
The detectives are continuing with their inquiries as they seek to establish the circumstances of the killing and identify those responsible.
