Details have emerged about how four armed criminals allegedly exploited gaps in police patrols before attacking a 34-year-old man near Madogo town in Garissa County.
According to Musyoka, two of the attackers were positioned on either side of the road, leaving him with little chance of escaping.
As he approached, one of the men placed a machete on the ground to threaten him before the group stopped and searched him.
The gangsters took KSh 420 and four cigarettes from his pockets.
However, the robbery took a disturbing turn when they presented him with two frightening choices.
They ordered Musyoka to either swallow a four-inch nail or face a brutal death.
The attackers threatened to chop his body into pieces using machetes, leaving him terrified of what they could do to him.
In a desperate attempt to protect himself, he visited a nearby shop, bought cooking oil and swallowed two handfuls before drinking more.
He later went to sleep but eventually sought medical assistance and was admitted to Garissa Referral Hospital, where doctors began examining and monitoring his condition.
Musyoka said he was recovering and hoped to leave hospital once doctors removed the nail.
The incident has sparked fresh concerns about security near Madogo, particularly how the attackers allegedly managed to take advantage of gaps in police patrols to carry out the robbery.
