There is a silent contradiction in some learning institutions that deserves serious reflection. We expect teachers to nurture disciplined, responsible, respectful and morally upright learners, yet sometimes the very environments in which they work fail to demonstrate these values. We teach honesty while tolerating dishonesty, preach teamwork while nurturing divisions, demand accountability while practising selective responsibility, and insist on respect while disregarding the dignity of colleagues.
